Medicine Dance: Awakening the Dancer - Devon

  • Haberton Village Hall Tristford Road Harberton TQ9 7SE (map)

As the seasons turn once again I’m returning to the dancefloor with my latest offering.

We begin with a Movement Medicine practice called Awakening the Dancer, where we move through the body consciously awaken each body part.

We then move into unfacilitated free-form Ecstatic Dance to move and dance from this awakened, embodied, and connected place individually and collectively.

We close with a Sound Journey and brief sharing circle. There will also be time to have a warm drink and/or eat after the dance, so please bring some food with you if you’d like to.

£7.50 - Concessions with coupon code CONCESSION at checkout

£10 - General admission

£12 - On the door on the day

You can book your place here and there’s more information below:

As a fully qualified Movement Medicine teacher and facilitator and Ecstatic Dance DJ, I bring the potency of both of these practices together to make the potent power and simplicity of the dance accessible to those new to conscious embodiment practices as well as long time conscious dancers.

Movement Medicine is a powerful embodiment practice for our times. It combines many elements and processes, all to support you to gain a deeper connection to your body, breath, and earth beneath your feet.

Ecstatic Dance is a music-led free-form dance practice that connects dancers to themselves and each other in a safe and supportive space.

To get a sense of the flow of my dances you can find out more and listen and dance to my latest mixes here.

I’m acutely aware that we are individually and collectively emerging at various paces from a deep dive into a very unique and for some very challenging time.

It is my intention to hold a space that honors that to the best of my ability, as being someone who is also emerging. In light of that please be in contact and let me know if you have any requests that may support you to join the dance(s) if you feel the calling to be there.

I also welcome feedback and suggestions as we go along as I feel we are in an emergent process in these new times and this calls for on-the-fly adaptation and evolution.

For me this is one of the great teachings of conscious dance and embodiment practices; to track and respond to what’s arising in the moment without and addenda for it to be different, allowing the wisdom of the body and breath to lead and open into new vistas of possibility inner and outer.

When we bring movement and awareness to our bodies and also to our hearts and minds, we awaken to parts of us that have been shut down and come into a deeper relationship with ourselves and each other.

This is a powerful path to truly stepping into our greatest potentials in life, as we can release many of the old patterns, emotions, and beliefs that have been stored in our system and open to new possibilities.

Here are the timings for the dance:

10:30-10:45am - Arrival and warm up.

10:45-11:00am - Opening Circle and Orientation

11:00-11.30am - Movement Medicine practice

11.30-12.30pm - Ecstatic Dance

12:30-12:45pm - Sound Journey and Closing Circle

These are intense and beautiful times. These dances are a totally inclusive and safe space for you to bring the fullness of yourself into movement.

Your brokenness is equally welcome as your wholeness. Your beauty is equally welcome as your shadow.

You are welcome just as you are. Nothing needs to change and who knows, maybe everything will…

It is a place to be you. Just you. Nothing more, nothing less.

Welcome to the Medicine. Welcome to the Dance.
